Today went really well. Thanks for the love and prayers :) Dr. Pui decided to give Cubs little body a break and wait until Monday to start the new chemo meds. Still, we were at the hospital today from 8am until about 3pm. Cub had labs drawn at 8, and his counts, while still considered to be low, are coming up :) This is great news! Then, they were able to get him into procedures about 2 hours ahead of time, so he got to eat some crackers around 11am. They did the spinal/chemo procedure, and then, after he was awake, administered a chemo drug through his port. They rescheduled a tutoring appointment because his schedule changed. And then we met with another specialist, and then made our way back to our room. We go back tomorrow for labs, and Dr. Pui will start bringing him off some of the antibiotics from the first part of phase 1 (its called induction), and he might remove the needle from Cubs port for the weekend so he can have a little break and start fresh on Monday. He still has a variety of other meds every day, and once he starts the new regimen, we will be going to the hospital everyday for different kinds of chemo medicine that will be administered through his port. We will also start administering some evening chemo meds that I will be giving him in our room. Please keep Cub in your prayers as much of the medicine I give him is liquid, and it tastes really awful. So, sometimes its hard for him to take a mouthful of syringe after the 8th or 9th time in a day. BUT he is doing great. :) Hes so brave and strong. And still my sweet, smart, funny little boy
