Today will rank in my spiritual memory. Not for anything earth - TopicsExpress

Today will rank in my spiritual memory. Not for anything earth shattering. Just the smallest of gestures, really. I sprinkled a few of my mothers ashes around the site of Gandhi s cremation site. And under the tree there. Im not sure it would ever have been anything my mother would have dreamed of. When she so wisely and courageously chose cremation over a traditional southern burial. The first of our family to do so. And Gandhi was cremated here in 1948... Not quite sure how much my mother knew of him. Im sure she knew what most folks knew, But somehow I think she had a different filter than most southern housewives of her time. She was quite unfettered by prejudice and she had a very tolerant and open soul. Funnily, she always said I looked like Mahatma Gandhi with my legs in lotus position sitting on the floor, watching tv. I was maybe six and had not a clue. What was most pleasing is the Hindu guide learned that she had chosen to be cremated some twenty years ago and I was now about to let her meet Mr Gandhi ... He was overjoyed and told me I had won his heart today. He shook my hand heartily and stood guard as I tried to do it secretly. Without the guards seeing me. Carolyn meet Mahatma. He has many things about love and patience and non-violence and charity to learn from you. You two can now rest in peace.
