Today witnessed another pulsating twist in the EPL race! Liverpool’s title ambitions were blunted by Mourinho’s managerial master class. It was a match which hung in the balance for most of the first half, until Steven Gerard fatefully took his eye off the ball, and perhaps the Premiership title itself. After Ba finished calmly, Liverpool always looked like they would have had better luck banging their heads against a brick wall. The second half saw the Reds hog the possession, but lacking the thrust which could have given Chelsea the blues. And after Torres selflessly squared to Willian, to roll the ball into an empty net late in the second half, the lesson from the master to his apprentice was complete. Anfield cleared out with the sinking feeling; that this season might be another time for them to walk alone. Given this year’s competition though, hope and another twist, seem very much on the menu.
