Today would have been my Grandmothers 82nd birthday. As I look back on all the memories, my heart is full of bittersweet happiness. I carry so many of the lessons she taught me on my daily journeys and think of her many times throughout the day, and know I was ridiculously blessed when God gave me her. Although she is no longer on Earth with us, I still find reasons to thank God for her, as her legacy lives on through us. Today, as we go to cheer on Bri at Miller Park, it will be hard not to have her in the stands with us. But when I am wishing she was with us today, Im thinking of the younger, healthier person. Honestly, if Nana were here with us today, she might not have been able to make it. The heat and humidity. The walking. The long day. Now, gracefully, she comfortably has the best seat in the house. Although we wont be able to see her in person, I know we will be there with us. Signs will be abundant! One of the best gifts she will receive this year is that we will be together today, carrying out her legacy of love of family. We will be there to cheer on one of our own, and to uplift each other. I dont think she would ask for anything more from us. Nana and I talked a lot about her mother in the last 10 years. She said that the reason she was sure to tell us our birth stories each year, was because she didnt know her story. Nana, I hope your mother is holding you right now, telling you your birth story and how much you were loved. I hope you are proud of us. We love you so incredibly much.
