Todays Bliss: After a morning ride, I let Sunday out in a new larger paddock for the first time alone. She trotted out to the far end, looked over the fence and then went down for a nice dusty roll. She came up and proceeded to run, buck and fart. I turned my back to check on water in that paddock and I noticed that suddenly she was limping. As you can imagine my heart stopped. She walked right up to me, but her nose in my chest and picked up her foot to show me her cut heel bulb. My heart melted because it was an absolute sign of the trust weve been building for a year. Honestly, that moment was one of the paradox of fear and elation! Rebecca Platt wasnt here, so I was on my own. Big cowgirl panty time! I am SO proud of us. I tied her to the fence and cleaned out the wound. I could tell it wasnt that bad, as it seemed to be just a peel back of skin and not much blood. I did put in a call to our soon to be new vet-who I had not called prior to this, since all was going well-and she walked me through what I had been thinking of doing, but not sure of myself in knowing if it would help or harm. She was great in telling me to vet wrap under her foot to keep everything in place. I then walked the entire paddock to look for any wire and didnt find any, so I suspect Rebecca and the vet are correct, she over stepped. Rebecca returned and I didnt want to barrage her as soon as she returned to her property, but she noticed right away and came over to my house. LOL! Our new vet will be here at 1, for a check in. Its good as we need some figuring out of the new hay regiment! Patience builds relationship...theres no doubt in my mind! I know know about padded bell boots. Each day a new beginning for this wanna-be cowgirl!
