Todays Devotional Exodus 18:21, Message Pray that the Harvesters whom God is sending to the Halpulaar Fulakunda will be able to get the gospel out to these spiritually hungry people. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the people so that they will gladly receive the good news of a wonderful God who loves them. Todays People Group “No one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house” (Mark 3:27). It seems that the odds weigh heavily against the Halpulaar Fulakunda people of Mauritania. They are mainly nomads trying to survive in a mostly desert, draught-stricken country. To make matters worse, Mauritania experiences dust storms 200 days out of the year. Illiteracy is the norm. Frequent political upheavals and a weak economy make Mauritania one of the world’s poorest countries. And then the crowning blow is that the country is an Islamic Republic with Sharia law that advocates death for apostasy and conversion to another religion. The strong man must be bound and his captives released for a truly Mauritanian church to become reality! Most of the 40,000 Fulakunda people who have moved to Mauritania from Senegal in the south and Mali in the east live in the Senegal River valley. Although semi-nomadic, many are now joining the exodus to larger towns and cities. Their lives seem hopeless. But is anything too hard for God? Pray that God will soften their hearts to receive the gospel. Pray that God will break the strongholds of evil in their lives. Pray for the spread of the gospel by word of mouth, and for Jesus’ power to be understood as the only way to counter the occult. Pray that these precious Halpulaar Fulakunda people will experience His love and forgiveness in a special way.
