Todays artist comes to us from Baltimore, MD. Tim Kelly graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art, but ended up driving a big rig truck in lieu of painting. Years later, Tim felt he had to get back to what he loved and started painting seriously. Like most artists, he has a “real job” so he still drives, but spends his free time working on his art. Tim has painted in the Solomons Plein Air Festival every year since its inception, in which competition he has garnered several major awards. His first year as a participant, he won “Best of Show” as well as first place in the Quick Draw competition. In addition to plein air work, Tim paints beautiful vignettes of everyday life. You might find subject matter such as pots on a stove or laundry hanging on a door. But each painting is a peek inside of life as translated by Kelly.
