Todays featured artist of Exit 26 is Ashley Akerman. Feeling most at peace when emerged in the wilderness, Ashley finds inspirations through the beauty of the natural world. Her simplistic style blends traditional values with contemporary technologies, providing fresh perspectives on environmental awareness. Using minimal manipulation, she captures the world as seen through her eyes, often envisioning the scene in black and white before she even shoots. Her grayscale pallets calm the sometimes overwhelming scenes of color, giving the organic compositions a dreamlike mood influenced by personal reflection. By dismantling the distractions found with color, Ashley brings focus to the variety of tones, textures and details found in the gradients of light and shadow, sometimes left unnoticed by those disbanded with nature.
