Todays liberal fancies they have some connection to the peace-loving, peace-loving, free-thinking hippies of the 60s, when nothing could be further from the truth. Do you really think true hippies, like Ken Kesey, wanted government to micromanage every aspect of their lives? Do you think someone like Hunter S. Thompson would say, Yeah, gun control! Sounds like a great idea! Who the hell needs a gun, well just hand over all the power to Washington DC, which is dominated by Wall Street. We can trust them! Can you imagine Jerry Garcia saying, You know, marijuanas bad. What we need is an overreaching federal government to tell me I cant smoke it, and nobody else can smoke it, either. Can you imagine a writer like Jack Kerouac--who was really part of the Beat Generation, which was still counter-coulter--saying, You know, I need government to censor my writing when it offends someone. The same goes for Howard Zinn. Or how about Allen Ginsburg? You know what Id like in my bedroom right now? More government. Of course they wouldnt, and they certainly wouldnt embrace a party that chooses governance at gunpoint, with an elitist attitude: I can govern your life better than you, and Ill use the government as a means to force you to do what I want, much less impose its will on other nations with extreme force: Jordan, Pakistan, Yemen, etc, not to mention right here at home. No, they would have expatriated en masse by now. True peace-loving, peace-living hippies want nothing to do with todays liberal.
