Todays paper was entitled Qualifications for the Overseers, the Presbyters, and the Deacons [in the Pastoral Epistles]. The presenter attempted to discuss the following aspects in detail: (1) Qualifications for, duties of, and requirements for overseers; (2) Qualifications for Deacons; (3) Qualifications for Women Helpers/female Deacons; (4) Qualifications for Elders; and (5) Deacons and their relation to overseers, and overseers and their relation to elders. The main questions we discussed were: How the Pastoral Epistles discuss the church order in continuity [or discontinuity] with the [other] Pauline Letters? Is there a developed church order in the Pastoral Epistles? Were there women deacons in Ephesus and Crete? How is the church order of the contemporary Indian Church[es] distinct from/similar to that of the Ephesian/Cretan church order?
