Today—13 June—in Hawaiian History [1855]: His Excellency, Kalanihelemaiiluna Kuhoʻoheiheipahu Abner Pākī dies at his grand residence Haleakala on King Street in Honolulu. Born around 1808 on Molokaʻi, this lawyer, legislator and judge served in several central roles in the government of Mōʻī Kauikeaouli (Kamehameha III). He and his wife, Laura Kanaholo Kōnia, were the parents of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. All three today rest at the Royal Mausoleum, Mauna ʻAla.
