Tom Burke with Don Norton receiving The Livestock Publication Council Headliner Award salutes an individual for meritorious service to the livestock and/or livestock publishing industry. Among recent award winners are Glenn Klippenstein, Glenn Grimes, Bob Funk, Dr. Temple Grandin, Bud Snidow and Stanley Stout. Our 2013 award winner began his career as a fieldman for LPC charter member Drovers Journal. While most widely known in the beef industry, he has twice served as president of the National Suffolk Sheep Association. He has co-authored multiple books on Angus history and accumulated a large collection telling the story of Angus history. He has been recognized as “Promoter of the Year” by the American Angus Association and “Marketeer of the Year” at the National Western. This award winner is best know as a manager of Angus sales across the country for nearly 50 years, conducting more than 175 sales per year as well as many speaking appearances at field days and livestock merchandising classes in universities from coast to coast. I am pleased to announce the Livestock Publications Council 2013 Headliner Award winner, Tom Burke of the American Angus Hall of Fame in Smithville, Missouri.
