Tom and I went to the American Jewish Congress annual meeting last night at Sherith Israel. The guest speaker was Fakhraddin Ismayilov from the Embassy of Azerbaijan. Fascinating discussion, Azerbaijan is a Moslem country located between Russia and Iran. The country supports Israel and has significant trade relations. The Jewish community in centered in Baku, which has existed for over two thousand years. Today over 30,000 Jews live in Azerbaijan with full citizenship rights. There is hope.
