Tomorrow, 51 more Egyptians will have their legs cut from beneath - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow, 51 more Egyptians will have their legs cut from beneath them as they stand trial before the Egyptian court. Many of the people standing trial are accused of terrorism and inciting violence. But for many, their only crime is expression of opposition. Even worse, some defendants are guilty of reporting the events taking place to the outside world. This comes at the heels of Egypts largest mass sentencing since the countrys inception. 529 individuals were found guilty in one sweep. 529. 376 of these defendants were not present at their trial. Were not present at their trial. Were not present at the trial that slapped them a death sentence. Among tomorrows death sentences will be Mohamed Soltan, Ohio State graduate. US Citizen. US Citizen. And independent journalist. And US Citizen. Among tomorrows death sentences will be Abdullah Alfakharany, a medical student and co-founder of Rassd, an independent news outlet. Medical student. Independent news. Amnesty International calls the sentencing a grotesque example of the shortcomings and the selective nature of Egypts justice system. Washington is deeply concerned. The European Union questions how over 500 death sentences were fairly given out in a 2-day trial. Damn, they said, those Egyptians work real fast. And I am ashamed to claim citizenship to a country run by this government. But not very hopeful of the protection my US citizenship promises to provide me. But confident in the protection my Lord promises. #Case317 #DontBeBrotherhoodBeHuman
