Tonight, 4 year old Smokey needs to find that one person out there - TopicsExpress

Tonight, 4 year old Smokey needs to find that one person out there who understands that Smokey’s issues stem from a lack of training by owners who thought it was funny or appropriate for him to growl at and scare strangers. Despite their comments about Smokey, they let him live with 6 children. Now, they don’t want him anymore so he sits in a cage at Brooklyn ACC. Of course, ACC assumes nobody could ever want such a dog and they’ve put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list (and made him New Hope only). Smokey’s behavioral eval is about what can be expected from a dog whose role in life was to scare. Tonight, Smokey needs to find that one very dog savyy person who understands what a strain it is on a dog to always be “on”; who understands that more than anything, Smokey would love to be just a regular dog, who understands that at only 4 years of age, Smokey is certainly young enough to learn new ways of dealing with the world—its all about the expectations his people have. If you’re that very special person, start applying to rescues to foster or adopt Smokey. But act fast—at noon tomorrow, ACC will take Smokey to that room from which no dog returns and he still won’t understand what he did wrong.
