Tonight I am going to see the a movie I have waited my whole entire black life to see, Belle. This movie is important because its directed by a British Ghanian black woman by the name of Amma Assante. This movie is important because Dido Elizabeth Belle was a real black woman raised in the British Aristocracy whos influence on her family helped to abolish slavery. This movie is important because it highlights the fact that black people were present in Europe during this time and not all of us were slaves. These movie is important because it speaks to a biracial woman struggle to make her place when she is shown by the world that she doesnt have one. This movie is important because it shows a black woman being loved by her father, her uncle, and her eventual husband, when it wasnt popular or safe to do so. I cannot wait for this.
