Tonight, I read an interesting article in GQ magazine on Mens Manners. Sadly most of the manners in the article are confused between social and business etiquette. (Chivalry) Manners are about respect... Etiquette are the rules however still boil down to respect for the other person. When dating, it is ladies first, and yes, a man opens doors and holds a coat when they put it on. Men also stand when a woman enters a room or arrives / leaves a dining table. Yes, a man can pick up the tab, however a woman can balance the gesture by picking up the tab periodically, making a meal, or purchasing tickets or whatever. Trust me: From the research Ive done.....Women LOVE Mannerly Manners, and you are better to err as a gentleman than a clod. However business etiquette is gender neutral. Men and women open doors for one another. Men do not stand when a woman enters a room, or leaves the dining table. If you have any questions or would like help in social, or business etiquette, appearance, grooming or any image concerns, please contact me at imageformen.net. Best wishes, and Happy New Year!
