Tonight at the Hollywood Bowl Caetano Veloso, who at 72 remains a restless visionary artist still challenging and connecting to his audience with a visceral immediacy, makes a rare Los Angeles appearance. In his native Brazil in the 1960s, he helped start the subversive Tropicalia movement, which challenged the dictatorship with its blend of Dada, overt politics, rock’n’roll & bossa nova. While some compare Veloso to Bob Dylan, Dylan never landed in jail & exile. Like Dylan, however, Veloso has never stayed in one place musically very long.
