Tonight in the market I work in, the entertainment for the evening - TopicsExpress

Tonight in the market I work in, the entertainment for the evening was a pair of ladies and their djembe drums. No other instruments, mind you, just animal skin drums. They cycled thru their 3 song set for a good 2 hours, drumming away and singing strange Folk harmonies in mostly foreign languages. Every time they finished a song, they burst out laughing. It was like a scene from a movie about two female Woodstock survivors, directed by the love child of Wes Anderson and Werner Herzog. Right on that edge between comedy and creepiness. The one song that was in English had a hypnotically repeated line: Children, you are safe in the arms of the village. Thankfully, neither of their 2 observers were children, but if there had been children present, I would have been compelled to shout, No, children, you are NOT safe in the village arms! Run, kids, run.
