Tonight was a first; I gave advice to another writer on the FanStory site. He had entered a short story contest with less than an hour before it was due to close, and, although he got his work turned in on time, he wasnt sure how it would be received because he wrote with a style unusual for him. There were some five star ratings (six is the maximum possible) but then, he saw a one star grade. Not only that, there were some very snide remarks written in the Comments section with it..one of them was Keep writing..letters. Turns out the person who dinged him with such a low score was someone who didnt like the four star rating this guy I replied to had used for a review. To make a long story short, I told the discouraged writer who was on the receiving end of that one star rating not to let petty, toxic people get to him. I suppose I should remember to heed my own advice when its necessary. Im getting philosophical because Im feeling better, I guess. :D
