Tonight while police were coaching Kathy from the home offering her help, SWAT shot tear gas into the home, the home filled with gas within a matter of minutes. Smoke alarms going off, but what wasnt expected to happen was the gas to engulf the officers outside negotiating safe-fully behind a patrol car. The gas didnt linger there it continued to saturate the air within a 100 foot perimeter of the home. That is when officers were scattering to safety to avoid the gas. Finally the gas pushed the officers back to a neighboring home where a woman provided water for the officers and bystanders watching from a safe distance. I was in this group and I never thought I would experience what tear gas would feel like EVER in my life. I couldnt see, I couldnt breath - that is when an officer said if you breath that in, and it gets into your eyes you will be OK - it wont hurt you. Thank you to the woman for providing the officers & me along with others water to wash our face and clear our throats. How fortunate we are to not have to endure this type of gas. It took about 10 mins for Kathy to emerge from the home, and I dont know how she made it that long. Again, thank you for the water!
