Too many people stand afraid to say what is actually obvious. Too many people refuse to criticise other cultures or religions on the grounds that there is no right or wrong--cultures are just different. Well, that is wrong. There may not be a perfect culture but some are better than others. A culture that treats women as subservient to men is wrong. A culture that permits a husband to beat his wife or allows a husband to have several wives whilst a woman may have only one is wrong. A culture that insists that women be covered from head to foot in public whilst men need not be, is wrong. A culture that allows girl children to be married before they are able to consent is wrong. A culture that does not allow people to freely choose their religion, or change it whenever they wish without persecution or violence, is wrong. A culture that imprisons or executes gay people is wrong. There is no perfect culture but one that allows these things is not just different--it is inferior.
