Took Nymf to the vet yesterday for a checkup before the young ones - TopicsExpress

Took Nymf to the vet yesterday for a checkup before the young ones arrive next week. Had a feeling a while ago that I needed to lower her insuline dosage as she was sleeping all the time and wasnt hungry in the mornings. So after getting the vets ok, I lowered her dosage by half a unit. I also switched her over to pure bioligical meat in the evenings, which she loved. After 2 weeks on the stuff her fur was amazingly soft and silky (and she has put on weight, which isnt so good). Have also been looking at dry food for the kittens (and hopefully Nymf), and thanks to pal Mayos research found freeze-dried biological dry food consisting mainly of pure protein and herbs instead of grains (which is no-no carbs for diabetics). So I ordered these and have been mixing them with Nymfs diabetic dry food to see how she reacts to them. She wont eat them pure (what else is new!!) so have to keep to mixing them. BUT, her bloodsugar level yesterday at the vets was so low (2,9) that her insuline dosage has been reduced again by one unit per day :-). Since I started the new dosage yesterday evening, she has much more energy again and was waiting for me for breakfast this morning. Once the kittens arrive next week, she will also get more exercise AND her normal portion of meat, since the kittens will eat the rest. So I feel we are on the right track again, and hopefully she wont need those shots at some point in the future :-)
