Took a long walk during my lunch break today. The route I chose took me through several neighborhoods where I spent a lot of time in my formative years; locations such as 6th Street (and East Rome in general), Sherman and Van Buren Ave area, Linden St and the area around Ft. Stanwix School...A lot of memories came flooding back to me as I walked those walks. A lot of good memories. I made sure to take in the sights, sounds and smells as well as step on all the spots where there are still Lanzi Concrete stamps in the sidewalks. I spent an hour taking in this town again by foot and I highly recommend it. Is it the same as it was when I was a youth? No. But damn, this town is still pretty cool. Try it one of these days. It put me in a pretty good mood.
