Took a run on the beach the other day. Got about a mile down the - TopicsExpress

Took a run on the beach the other day. Got about a mile down the way, and heard someone calling me, Hey! Please, help me, please, wait! Turned around and saw a lady stumbling up, limping from the water, foot bleeding, Something got me, I felt it bite me... she collapsed down on the sand, obviously in much pain. She didnt have her cell phone and neither did I, she asked if Id run get her friend staying at the hotel close by. Key word here is close. No one else was nearby, the bleeding seemed to have stopped, so I gave her my water & headed on to get her friend. Right up the way meant more than a mile, intense Florida sun shining down, no water, my run turned into a grueling grind. I thought to myself, Shes probably thinking shes just asked the slowest runner in the world to help her... But since I was the only one there, must have seemed the best choice at the time. :) Finally got to the hotel, located her friend, the girl at the front desk kindly replenished my water supply, and I headed out for the hot journey back. She was gone when I ran back by that place on the beach. Prayed she was OK and got the help she needed. And couldnt help but think that so often in life, in our busy day to day, we encounter people who are hurting, just like her. But maybe not so obvious. Some mask it well, not so evident as a lady coming up out of the water with a bleeding foot, crying for help. But yet, their hearts still cry out. And if we take the time to notice, we can see the pain behind the smiles and the Im fines. Feeling all alone, they need someone to stop. And many times, we feel like the least adequate to render aid. Someone else would surely be better for the job, more qualified, more efficient. And maybe other times we feel too busy to stop, or too weary ourselves to even help. And yet God calls us still. To notice. To stop. To help. To show love. And in it all, He promises to equip us for every good work. He promises to give strength when we feel weary. He promises that any good we do is not in vain. It has purpose, it has meaning. Every single thing. This world can be a dark, lonely place some days. We have the potential to bring great hope into the dark places by the sheer grace He breathes and whispers through us. May His goodness shine through you today...in all you do. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isa. 40:31 Press on dear friend...He sees.
