Took me some time as I thought this would be a bit easier to write (like a girls blouse sometimes like...) Im just over a year on from seeing the first pound earned and donated to Lindas memorial fund at Velindre Hospital. In that time a hell of a lot of pain, sweat, blood and tears has been spilled by runners, riders, swimmers, walkers, jumpers, paddlers, pedallers...strangers no more. During that time too theres been emotion and grief - too much sometimes to bear - but theres also been laughter. Theres been hope. Theres been success. New friends made. New brotherhoods and sisterhoods created. Old friends re-united and new lifelong bonds made. The single common binding factor through all of this has been Linda. Her inspiration, her memory it seems brings even the strangest of strangers together united in one endeavour – To help. To care. To look after those struggling to look after themselves. That was her way and Im overwhelmed to have met so many who are so keen to subscribe to her way. This preamble of course leads me to a statement: Im delighted, emotional and overwhelmed to report that following last nights White Ball at Cyfarthfa Castle and with the granite hard work and typical generosity of lifes wonderful people Lindas fund currently stands at £46,900.43. Every penny of that goes straight to the front-line in the battle against this sneaky and cowardly disease. Sadly I cant tag everyone that helped but whether you donated, whether you challenged, or whether you simply encouraged and supported, you helped to kick the guts out of this cruellest of diseases and to make it much less the monster it was 12 months ago. Thank you so very very much xxx
