Toothless ACC ‘Investigates’ Sichinga The Anti Corruption - TopicsExpress

Toothless ACC ‘Investigates’ Sichinga The Anti Corruption Commission says it is studying allegations of impropriety on the part of Agriculture minister Bob Sichinga in the purchase of 50, 000 metric tonnes of Urea fertilizer. Opposition United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema said government over paid about K2.9 million on the transaction that the opposition leader condemned for being single sourced. ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono said the law enforcement body was following up the matter. Government recently purchased Urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia with the opposition raising alarm that the commodity was overpriced. Although Moono has announced Sichinga is under investigation, any meaningful outcome should have the blessings of President Michael Sata. Any such investigations without Sata’s approval is null and void under the Patriotic Front government. President Sata is on record of telling off ACC and subsequently stopping investigations of his top ranking officials. Justice minister Wynter Kabimba and his defence counterpart were implicated in corruption allegations. However, Sata stopped the investigations sayings they could not go ahead without approval even when there was substantial evidence of impropriety on the part of both officials. Observers have accused President Sata and his government of deep corruption which is growing by the day. zambiareports/2013/11/01/toothless-acc-investigates-sichinga/
