Topic: Will Indian Moslems accept ISIL ideology? words: 301 As a group I think the answer is definite no but then the distributions of Moslems, just like those of other demographic constituents in India, are very vast, and there is a real-time possibility of some Indian Moslems accepting the ideology of the ISIL. The IUML lawmaker E Ahmed raised the issue in the Lower House of Parliament today and the Home Minister Rajnath Singh replied in the expected lines saying that he believed that Indian Moslems as a group would never accept the hardcore ideology of the ISIL. He also promised that no discrimination would be done against the young Moslems and requested lawmakers to bring to his notice of any rights violence. I think many of the leaders in India are influenced by the interview given by Prime Minister Modi to CNN analyst Fareed Zakaria in September, 2014, before his visit to the United Nations and to the US. PM Modi stated very confidently that Indian Moslems are Indian first and they would reject the ISIL ideology outrightly. Again people handling the issue in the Ministry of Home Affairs and other government law enforcing agencies should be cautious and they should not borrow the overconfidence of the Prime Minister and some of his colleagues. The fact is that Indian Moslems are mostly tolerant people, mostly away from violence, but even few hundreds can complicate the security situation and that nobody can stop. With few recurrence of violence incidents the groups can grow in India. This is the inevitable consequence of high competing, conflicting consciousness. Thus the most important point for the law enforcement agencies would be to prepare for the worst and not to be caught hands-off. The best thing would be if no one participates but still in case of urgency the authorities should be able to respond.
