Topic of discussion: President Joyce Banda has snubbed the first-ever presidential debates slated for April 22, 29 and May 6 in Lilongwe and Blantyre citing “clash of programmes” and “tight campaign schedule”. A multi-stakeholders task force endorsed by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and chaired by National Media Institute of Southern Africa (Namisa) have organised the debates. Namisa chairperson Anthony Kasunda says the debates are an opportunity for the presidential candidates to engage with Malawians.
