#TopicTuesday Topic Tuesday: Cardio Cardio, or more specifically, what type of cardio burns the most calories/fat. In my opinion (as far as machines go) the Stair Master is number one; however, the best form of cardio is the one you are going to do. Many of my clients at Golds Gym despise cardio machines and see them as boring and monotonous. So I typically use HIIT and Tabata training with them. However, I have some clients that are so overweight or uncoordinated that doing high intensity training with box jumps and burpees would just cause more problems. Im struggling to find ways to make cardio exciting and fun but still intense enough to help my clients achieve their goals. For example, I have one 18 year old male client who is 55 and 235 lbs at about 37% body fat. He just finished his football season (defensive lineman) and is not going to play college ball so he wants to lose the extra weight. The first few sessions we had together we did tire flips and sled pushes, things that were more intense than sitting on the exercise bike for 30 minutes. He seemed to enjoy it and said it was better than running or using machines. BUT I didnt see him in the gym all last week (which he had off from school!) and I confronted him about it during our session yesterday. He said he got busy. Disappointing. The best type of cardio is the type that you enjoy and be consistent with.
