Totally excited about a discovery I made for my workflow in video editing. Panasonic P2 Cards have an annoying file structure compared to what Im used to with filming. Unlike DSLRs, which encode the audio and video together in a .MOV video container, P2 cards structure the files into 6 different folders (Audio, Video, and XML folders are the important folders to look at) AND 1280w x 1080h, 1.5 Pixels Aspect Ratio… It made it annoying to work with on Mac’s due to the Quickview not being able to “read” .MXF files natively, so I’d have to copy the CONTENTS folder onto the computer and simply use the Media Browser in Premiere Pro to import and preview the footage. What you can do instead (and it may take a bit of time, but is way more convenient), is simply navigate to the CONTENTS folder of the card, select all the video, and drag-drop into Adobe Media Encoder, select a codec (I chose Quicktime H.264, 1080i Square Pixels), and it stitches everything together smoothly and much more Mac/Workflow friendly. It’s times like these that just make my day when I find a faster and easier way to work. #Nerd #VideoEditing #ILoveAdobe #HashtagsAreStupid
