Tough week of archery mule deer hunting. Drug my client into every possible basin in the west elks and glassed them apart. Took until day four to finally find two mature bucks in some extremely tough country. Spent three and a half hours on the first stalk only to have the bucks jump basins on us. Relocated them on the last morning and watched them bed in an impossible area to get within range with archery tackle. So it goes... Whether the game and fish wants to believe it or not the deer herd is not coming back in the gunnison basin and issuing tags is only hurting it worse.
