#TourdeFrance 2014 Review Read Full Blog here-mainlinemenswear.co.uk/blog/2014/tour-de-france-2014-review Last Sunday saw the conclusion of the gruelling Tour de France and it was Italian Vincenzo Nibali who came out as victor, winning by the biggest margin since 1997. He wore the famous yellow jersey for 18 of the tour’s 21 days so it hardly came as a surprise when he rode down towards the Champs Elysees sipping champagne with his Astana team mates – and before you start to wonder why he would pull such a grossly unprofessional stunt – it is a long standing tradition that the leader remains unchallenged on the last day and as such it is more of a victory parade. Looking back, the race had everything a TV audience could want – major crashes, enormous crowds, entertaining fancy dress, dangerous cobbled roads, pouring rain and scorching heat – all testing the world’s best riders to the extreme. It all made compelling viewing, not even sceptics could retort with claims it should be renamed the “snore de France” this time.
