Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 38 km northwest of Chikmagalur town. The southern part of the Bhadra Wildlife sanctuary is rich in birds, butterflies and reptiles. This park is located to the northwest of Bandipur National Park. Kabini dam divides this park from Bandipur National Park. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a paradise for wildlife lovers. Ranganathittu attained the status of a bird sanctuary in 1940. Waterfalls in Karnataka Abbey Falls is located at a distance of 10 km from Madikeri town in Kodagu (or Coorg) district. This is a favorite spot for tourists. Alekan Falls is about 18 km from Charmadi in Charmadi ghats. Alekan falls is situated on the way to Kottigehara from Charmadi. Shivasamudram falls: is the second biggest waterfall in India and the sixteenth largest in the world. Shivanasamudra Falls was formerly known as the Kaveri Falls. Unchalli falls, which is also called Lushington Falls is a waterfall created by a 116 meter drop in Aghanashini River is place in the thickets of the Sahyadri hills of the Western Ghats.
