Tracker Update: The day I bought it, the fan belt failed while I was on H-3 on the way home. The fan belt drives the water pump. We were on the viaduct on the windward side when I realized I was in trouble, and there isnt enough room on the shoulder to pull over safely there. I tried to make it to the maintenance turnaround just before the tunnel. I made it, but not before overheating my engine and bursting the top tank on my radiator. After we got towed home and I replaced the radiator and a whole bunch of other stuff, I determined that the thermostat was shot. No surprise, really, but since it failed open, I went ahead and got the tracker safety inspected and legal again before I replaced it. I replaced it on Sunday, and I found that 2/3 of the old thermostat is missing & unaccounted for. I fished around in the water neck for it, but I was unable to find anything. It might be that the missing parts were removed when the radiator was replaced by the previous owners. My new thermostat maintains engine temp like a champ. I got some headrests for the back seat from a junkyard. Melanie and I installed some extra tie downs for the cargo area tonight.
