Traffic Advisory Moharram is the first month of the Islamic (Hizri Calendar). The 10th day of this month (Hizri Calendar) is observed as Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Imam Hussain (the grand son of Prophet Mohammad). This year Moharram” will be observed in the Capital on 04/11/2014. On 04/11/2014 from 0900 hours onwards “Alam and Taboot” procession will be taken out from Shia Jama Masjid , Kashmere Gate, Chabi Ganj, Chhota Bazar, Bara Bazar and would terminate at Panja Sharif at around 1600 hrs.. The Tazias from Nizamuddin, Okhla and Mehrauli would reach Karbala directly. Tazia processions will also be taken out in East Distt., North-East Distt. (Trans Yamuna area), North - West Distt., (Inderlok & Jahangirpuri) South East Distt. (Nizamuddin), South Distt and West Distt. and these will terminate at local Karbalas of the respective Distts. Route of the Procession: ON 4-11-2014 AT ABOUT 12.00 NOON START FROM CHHATTA SHAHZAD, KALAN MAHAL AND PASSES THROUGH PAHARI BHOJLA : CHITLI QABAR : MATIA MAHAL CHOWK : JAMA MASJID : CHAWRI BAZAR : CHOWK HAUZ QAZI : AJMERI GATE : PAHAR GANJ BRIDGE : - NEW DELHI RAILWAY STATION - CHELMSFORD ROAD – CONNAUGHT PLACE – OUTER CIRCUS (WRONG CARRIAGE WAY) - PARLIAMENT STREET - RED CROSS ROAD : NEW DELHI JAMA MASJID : R/A KRISHI BHAWAN (WRONG CARRIAGE WAY) - RAISINA ROAD : VIJAY CHOWK : KRISHNA MENON MARG : TUGLAK ROAD : AUROBINDO MARG : JOR BAGH AND REACH KARBALA. Access to New Delhi Railway Station Those going to New Delhi Railway Station on 4th November particularly in evening should leave in advance and have sufficient time for possible delay in routes. For reaching New Delhi Railway Station commuters should avoid Connaught Place and reach Ajmeri Gate side through Tilak Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg or through Rajghat and Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg depending on movement of procession. From West Delhi Shankar Road – Talkatora Road – Ashok Road – ‘C’-Hexagon – Tilak Marg –Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg. Shankar Road – Willingdon Crescent Road – Akbar Road – Tilak Marg - DDU. Rohtak Road –Rani Jhansi Road – ISBT – Ring Road – Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg. From South Delhi Janpath – Ferozshah Road – Mandi House, then either –Barakhamba Road - Ranjit Singh Marg – Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg & reach Ajmeri Gate Side or Sikandra Road – Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk – Lala Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk BSZ Marg - JLN Marg. City Buses Terminating Plan as and when required depending on the movement of the procession Desh Bandhu Gupta Road (i) Buses coming on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road bound for Ajmeri Gate and beyond will be curtailed at Aram Bagh return via Chitragupta Road-Pahar Ganj. (ii) Buses bound for New Delhi Railway Station shall also be curtailed at Aram Bagh. (iii) Buses bound for Connaught Place and Central Secretariat will take Rani Jhansi Road-Mandir Marg-Park Street and terminate at Udyan Marg and return via Kali Bari Marg. Dinesh Nandani Dalmia Chowk (i) Buses coming from East and Central District on DND Chowk bound for Connaught Place & Central Secretariat will take Sikandra Road and terminate at Mandi House and on rerturn these will take Bhagwan Dass Road – Tilak marg. Lala Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk (i) Buses bound for Connaught Place – Central Secretariat from North & East District reaching ‘A’ Point will take DDU Marg and terminate at Shivaji Statue and return via Thompson Marg. Shanti Path/Panchsheel/S.P.Marg (i) Buses bound for Central Secretariat/Connaught Place from Shanti Path – Vinay Marg will take Panchsheel Marg – S.P. Marg – Mother Teresa Crescent – Park Street and Terminate at Udyan Marg. Return will be via Kali Bari Marg – Mandir Marg – Park Street – Mother Teresa Crescent. Sri Aurobindo Chowk (i) Buses coming on Tuglaq Road bound for Central Secretariat and Connaught Place will be diverted on Prithvi Raj Road- Q-Point – Man Singh Road – Maulana Azad Road to terminate opposite Vigyan Bhawan and return via Janpath. Sri Aurobindo Marg (i) When procession reaches Madarsa Chowk, traffic coming from Yusuf Sarai shall be diverted towards Ring Road from AIIMS flyover loop. (ii) Traffic on Aurobindo Marg between AIIMS and South foot of Safdarjung flyover shall be diverted towards Brig. Hoshiyar Singh Marg. (iii) Traffic on Safdarjung flyover shall be diverted to take U turn and move towards gate No. 4 Safdarjung Airport to take FRRO lane. (iv) Traffic on Max Mueller Marg shall compulsorily move straight towards Forth Avenue Road. (v) Traffic on Maharishi Raman shall compulsorily move straight towards Bhishma Pitamah Marg. (vi) While the procession is moving towards Madarsa, Aurobindo Marg shall be closed between Lodhi Road and Jor Bagh Road. (vii) Buses coming on Sri Aurobindo Marg will be diverted to Prithvi Raj Road/Safdarjung Road when procession reaches roundabout Gole Methi. (viii) When procession reaches R/A Tuglaq Road buses coming from AIIMS side will be diverted under Safdurjung Flyover from INA, terminate and return. South End /Prithvi Raj Road A WHEN PROCESSION REACHES R/A GOLE METHI:- i No bus will be allowed towards R/A Tuglaq Road. ii Buses coming on Aurangzeb Road from ‘Q’ point will be diverted to Prithvi Raj Road. iii Buses coming on Kemal Ataturk Marg for R/A Tuglaq Road will be diverted to Kautilya Marg – Mother Teresa Crescent – R/A RML Hospital. B WHEN PROCESSION REACHES R/A TUGLAQ ROAD:- i Buses will not be allowed to reach Sri Aurobindo Chowk from South End – Prithvi Raj Road but will be diverted towards Max Mueller Marg, Lodhi Road, Bhishma Pitahmah Marg & proceed further to South. There is likelihood of slowing down and congestion of traffic along the route of the procession and adjoining roads. In addition, due to other local processions, movement of traffic is also likely to be affected on Mathura Road, Maa Anandmai Marg, Mehrauli – Badarpur Road, Road No. 56, Road No. 66, Pankha Road, Palam Dabri Road etc. General public and motorists are advised to avoid the above mentioned routes, co-operate and follow the directions of the traffic policemen posted all along the route of procession to avoid inconvenience.
