Trailer for The Giver, one of my favorite books. Looks like a fantastic cast with Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. I love how theyve made artistic use of the black and white world vs. the colors the boy sees as he gains in consciousness. It seems like theyre also imitating all the recent high-tech teenage dystopias like Hunger Games and Divergent. The book is a lot more subtle, with elements of danger in a localized creepy community way, but not with the huge government apparatus and all-out war depicted here. Theres definitely room in the story to go in that direction though, and I can see how it makes for a better movie, and one more culturally relevant at this point in time. The Giver Film
