Train frequency increased in Kashmir, PDP welcomes move SRINAGAR — People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday welcomed the increase in the frequency of train service between Banihal and Budgam. Mehbooba said it would bring much needed relief to the commuters. “The frequency needs to be increased on Budgam-Baramulla line also to ease pressure on north Kashmir, as well,” Mehbooba said in a statement. She said it is encouraging that Railway Ministry has responded to this long felt need. Mehbooba said the party has taken up the issues related to the expansion of railways in Jammu & Kashmir, in the areas like Poonch-Rajouri, Kupwara and Chenab Valley, as well, as the need for completing the Katra-Banihal construction of railway line on priority. The PDP chief said the projects will be pursued with the railway ministry to upgrade transportation in the state which is faced with such hurdles as could be removed only through railways.
