Training Day 22- Today Sauci got a well deserved day off!! Here is some info to consider on a quiet Sauci day :)- Racehorse Lifestyle Info: Thoroughbreds at the track are used to a routine, they do something 7 days a week and it is generally a combination of these; galloping days, jogging (think trot sets for eventers) days, ponying, days they work which is training at a speed which is clocked and made available to the public to know what kind if speed a horse has. Works are often spread out every few weeks depending on the horses racing schedule. Works also are a time where horses spend time and learn to get comfortable in the starting gate. Then there are days they race. Last but not least, they have walking days. Walking can either be on the hot walker or by hand. When I bring a new Thoroughbred home off the track, I like to give them a day or two to a week to settle into their new environment, then I put them right into a routine, even if it just hand walking and lunging to begin. I find that thoroughbreds as a breed thrive on having a job and i like to keep mine busy with a variety of activities. Thank you for following! !
