#TransferNews Chelsea offered £40m Cesc Fabregas Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been offered the chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has been made available for transfer by the Catalan giants. Barcelona will sell the Spain international if they receive an offer worth around £40m, while Fabregas is open to the idea of leaving the Camp Nou after becoming increasingly frustrated with being made a scapegoat for the club’s trophy-less season, according to the Sunday Times. After spending a fortune to secure the services of Brazilian sensational Neymar last summer and recently making Lionel Messi the world’s highest-paid player again, Barcelona currently find themselves in a precarious financial position. Subsequently, they are open to selling one of their prized assets in order to help balance the books ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. It was reported last week that Manchester United were keen to make Fabregas their highest-profile summer signing and were on the verge of tabling a £30m offer, but it’s now believed newly-appointed Red Devils’ coach Louis van Gaal has no plans to bring the World Cup winner to Old Trafford. The vastly-experienced Dutch coach has, instead, set his sights on securing the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. This, subsequently, means Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all have a better chance of signing the world-class midfielder. The Gunners appear to be in pole position to sign Fabregas because of the player’s connections with the north London outfit: the 27-year-old spent eight years at the Emirates Stadium. However, both Chelsea and Manchester City are in a position to offer Fabregas a much more lucrative contract, and such offers may prove impossible for the midfielder to resist.
