#TransferNews Spanish giant in bid to thwart Liverpool and Man Utd for £33 million man Catalan giants, Barcelona, are on course to stage a £33 million bid for Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan, who has been a long-standing target for Liverpool and Manchester United, reports talkSPORT. The 27 year old midfielder was an integral part to Atletico’s success last year, in a season which saw the club win their first La Liga title in almost 30 years. The Turkey international also scored 4 times in Madrid’s European Cup run which saw them eventually lose out to Real Madrid in extra time in the final. Turan had been a target for both Liverpool and Manchester, but Barcelona look set to trigger a release clause in the player’s contract by meeting the £33 million fee. The Spanish club are a wounded giant right now, after finishing last season without a trophy. It is the first time that that has happened in 6 years, and Gerard Martino paid for it with his job. New boss, Luis Enrique, looks set to stage a mini-revolution at the club, and a busy summer of transfers is anticipated. For Atletico, though, the news comes amid massive speculation that many of their star players could be on the way out of the club. Chelsea have shown particular interest in their squard, particularly the likes of Diego Costa and Tiago, whilst Barcelona have also been monitoring Turan’s teammate, Koke. The team that lines up for Diego Simeone next year could look very different to the one who performed so well for him last campaign.
