Transition - Shorts on Big Screen turned out to be a pretty - TopicsExpress

Transition - Shorts on Big Screen turned out to be a pretty successful event. It was a well managed and driven event and probably for the first time a non festival screening event saw enthusiastic filmmakers, veteran / popular filmmakers and film-buffs like me bound in time and space for an event which could be thought of as a short film movement. The four films that were showcased formed a good compilation. While Ananya Kasarvallis award winning Devil in the black stone followed the linear narrative structure with the feel of slow paced Kasarvalli style the other three True North, D Square and Hot Seat were experimental with a non-linear narrative. Well its wrong to expect that every film should have a message. What i look for is the experience the film provided. For some of the audience some films might not have worked. Fair enough a film need not cater all kind of people. I do not want to comment on each of the film as the the Q&A sessions touched on each film for its positives and negatives. It was interesting that topics like Aspect Ratio, Sound, BG score were touched upon. Usually most of the discussions end up with story, acting and camera work. In a way having mentors in the screening sessions do help in validation. Aparajits score for D Square and Karthiks score for True North seemed to have impressed the audience. Hope to see more work from these guys. The titling work for D Square and Hot Seat hmmm.... very creative. Feels great to be a midst such creative minds :-). Hope this movement will continue and we get to see more and more of good short films with Q & A. A big thanks to all those who made this happen!
