Transport for London informed me about resurfacing works along the A232 Carshalton Road, approximately between King’s Lane and Alma Road . The scheme involves highway drainage remedial works, carriageway resurfacing and reinstatement of road markings. The works began on Monday 27 October 2014 for approximately one week, or until the works are completed. All the works will take place at night time between 21:30 and 05:00, Monday to Friday. Every effort will be made to ensure that noisy operations are completed before midnight. Unfortunately, vehicle reversing warning beepers are essential safety devices to protect operatives. These works are being held at night in order to complete them safely and as quickly as possible whilst minimising disruption. Bus Services 154, 407, 627 and X3 operating along Carshalton Road will be affected by the closures during the works and local residents are advised to check at individual bus stops for further information. I am aware that many residents experienced a sleepless night last night and were given little notice about the works, preventing them from making alternative arrangements. I have taken this up with Transport for London as a matter of urgency
