Trine State Recreation Area will be featured Friday on PBS The soon-to-open Trine State Recreation Area near Pokagon State Park will be featured on Primetime 39 on northeast Indiana’s PBS channel this Friday, Aug. 23. The program will air at 7:30 p.m. on PBS 39, WFWA. Pokagon property manager Ted Bohman and park interpreter Fred Wooley will be guests on the show. Their half-hour interview with host Bruce Haines will explain the transformation of an old resort area near Pokagon into Trine SRA. Trine SRA will be a 200-acre property across Interstate 69 from Pokagon, bordering Gentian Lake. The area was Wing Haven Resort from 1948 to 1971. It was later Camp Calvary and then the Oakhill Resort and Conference Center. The state acquired the property in 2006 through a gift from Ralph and Sheri Trine of Angola. Work to make the property available for public use started in 2007. A soft opening of Trine SRA, with most facilities in operation, is planned later this year. A grand opening will be scheduled for 2014. Pokagon State Park (stateparks.IN.gov/2973.htm) is at 450 Lane 100 Lake James, Angola, 46703.
