Tripp Norris Update on the reclassification and how it will affect Opps region the next two years. Houston Academy was classified in 3A and have won their appeal with the AHSAA claiming their their student count total was incorrect. H A will be be dropped back to Class 2A. This affects Opps region opponents. Most likely Geneva will be moved from Region 1 to Region 2 and will not be a region opponent next year. To fill Genevas spot there are two likely scenarios. Scenario #1 = Escambia County the smallest 5A school will move to 4A Region 1 and WS Neal the smallest 4A school will move to 3A Region 1 and will be in Opps region in football and area in all other sports. Scenario #2 = With Houston Academy dropping to 2A the largest 2A school Flomaton could be bumped up to 3A and into Opps region for football but they would not be in Opps area in any other sport. If scenario two is the case Opps area for all other sports would probably be as three team areas along with TR Miller and Hillcrest-Evergreen. For volleyball only TR Miller would move from area 1 to area 2.
