Troop E- Troopers in Troop E are warning people about a scam going around in the Southern Tier: Troopers have gotten several calls about a scam by persons calling residents claiming to be from Microsoft Support. These people are aggressively conning residents, to allow them to remotely access their computers under the impression of repairing problems. Microsoft does not make unsolicited tech support calls and obviously these people are using the name Microsoft to give them legitimacy. This is not a new scam but appears to be hitting the Southern Tier right now.
