Tropical Storm Iselle is still buffeting Hawaii with strong winds and heavy rain. Its centered at 11 a.m. HST (5 p.m. EDT) about 125 miles south of Honolulu, moving toward the west. Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Iselle may become a depression by Sunday. Tropical storm conditions will gradually diminish on the Big Island and Maui today. Tropical storm conditions are likely over portions of Oahu today, and Kauai tonight, especially over mountains and where winds blow downslope from higher terrain. Rainfall totals of 5 to 8 inches, with isolated maximum amounts to 12 inches, are expected near the track of Iselle. The heaviest rainfall will likely occur over mountainous terrain. These rains could cause life-threatening flash floods as well as rock and mud slides. ***** Also at this hour, Hurricane Julio is centered about 770 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii, and moving toward the west-northwest. Maximum sustained winds are 105 mph - a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Julio is forecast to gradually weaken during the next 48 hours.
