True topic. It annoys me when people look at me stupid for not knowing african American culture. Why because my skin is dark I have to know about my ancestors? I was raised 100% mexican though I am mexican and west indian. Neither of those are the same as african American cultures. You cant assume that I should know black history simply because of the color of my skin. I consider myself to be mexican... its all I know. So why look at me sideways because I dont understand this light skin dark skin battle, the naturals vs. the weave lovers, the animal comparisons. Everyone isnt raised around racism people!
