True emergence: the person doing the planning is not the same person when the vision unfolds. Just as a butterfly is no longer the caterpillar when it spreads its wings. Planning for an extraordinary life: the path that ultimately emerges out of the chaos of transformation is beyond our conscious knowledge—and may rarely be what we expect. Like a butterfly, our future self will see the world from a higher vantage point, which will color what we want, affect how we move forward, determine what shortcuts we’re now able to take, and define where we land. Keep two principles in mind: 1. plan as if you are doing all the work, but live as if something larger is really behind the unfolding of events. 2. remember that you control the actions, but this larger than life source controls the results! We plan based on what we think we want and how we think it should be done. It is difficult to plan life....to predict where we should go and the best way to get there – if we haven’t been there yet. The path is laid out before us when we surrender to the process with no expectations and the vision of what we want.
