Truex Jr. Qualifies 17th in Pocono LONG POND, Pa. (June 6, 2014) -- Martin Truex Jr. qualified 17th for Sundays Pocono 400 Sprint Cup Series race. In Fridays time trials at the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway, Truexs No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet advanced to the second round of qualifying. His time and speed in the second round -- 50.286 seconds at 178.976 miles per hour -- was nine-thousandths-of-a-second shy of making the final round of 12 cars. For some reason the car changed from practice, said Truex, who was eighth fastest in the earlier practice session. It could have been the weather conditions, but for right now thats not important. Whats important is to have a good run on Sunday and to keep up our momentum. I believe we qualified 16th last week in Dover and went on to finish sixth in the race. The pole winner was Denny Hamlin (49.610 at 181.415). Rounding out the top-10 in order were: Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brian Vickers and Carl Edwards. Sundays 160-lap, 400-mile race will be televised on TNT, beginning with a 60-minute prerace show at 10 a.m. MT (noon ET).
